The Fermentation Process
Some of our hay undergoes early cutting and bagging for fermentation, a process known as silage. While traditional silage involves large silos, we opt for bags to ferment the hay. Although we could humorously call this "baggage," we still refer to it as silage because of the fermentation process involved.
Fermenting hay enhances its nutritional profile, boosting protein content and digestibility. This is vital during winter when fresh forage is scarce. The fermentation transforms the hay into a super nutritious feed, allowing our cows to thrive and produce high-quality collagen.
Choosing the Right Forage
We intentionally avoid feeding our cows alfalfa, focusing instead on a diet that supports their health during winter. Timothy grass provides the right balance of fiber and nutrients, making it an excellent choice for our cows. This careful selection of forage ensures they remain healthy, active, and ready to produce top-quality collagen.
That may seem an unreasonably high number, but remember that global internet reach is as large and wide-ranging as ever before and only intends to grow larger. The customers and clients are there, but they have to find you.
